Happy New Year!
I hope you and your family had as wonderful of a Christmas holiday as mine did. We had such a busy fall, as well as one of the busiest and most enjoyable Christmas concert seasons I've had in a while, and we were all ready for a much-needed break. I purposefully decided to take the last two weeks of December completely off while Hannah and Ross were also out of school. In Mark 6:31 Jesus says to His disciples, "Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while. " This is exactly what I felt the Lord leading me to do this Christmas season...after decorating our home with all of the beauty the season brings, I chose not to make a to-do list, set any goals of accomplishment, or work on any projects. I simply enjoyed the beauty of my home and the closeness of my family as we stayed up late, slept in, enjoyed movies, holiday lights, late-night ping pong, games, baking, and even a little snow the day after Christmas. Sometimes I believe we need to set aside a time to simply rest in order to be refueled and ready to face what lies ahead.
