December 2009
Dear Friends,
Greetings from Jordan Ministries this Christmas Season and what a wonderful beginning it has been here in our household. I had the joy of celebrating Thanksgiving with my brother Robert and then hosting some extended family members here in our home this past Saturday. It was so much fun! I was able to get the house decorated for Christmas before everyone arrived and we enjoyed a wonderful meal together as well as the Carolina/Clemson game.
Now I am gearing up for a VERY busy Christmas Season. I have something scheduled every night until the 13th, with a night off before resuming scheduled engagements the 15th, 18th, 19th, & 20th, & then calling it a season! If you are located in the WIS viewing area you can catch Jerry Sims and me during the 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 & 7:00 news hours for their Sounds of the Season on Tuesday, December 8th. Of course we are also gearing up for the annual First Baptist Columbia Christmas pageant and in addition I will be sharing my ministry in Simpsonville, Augusta, North Augusta, Lexington, and Norway (that's Norway, SC! :). If you are going to be in the area and can join me, I would love to see you. See www.dawnsmithjordan.com for schedule details.
This is an exciting month in a different way also in that I am re-releasing an old CD (formerly known as "Taking a Stand"). It is titled "Keep Believing" and since I've had so many requests for the song with that title and have had it available only on cassette tape, we decided release it on CD with a fresh look. Here is the chorus:
Keep believing in what you know is true,
Keep believing, you know the Lord will see you through,
When troubles rise in your life
And you don't know what to do
You'll be fine, if you'll just
Keep believing.
As with the Christmas CD, our own Jennifer Dale once again branched out and designed the beautiful cover. It is not yet available on our website but we want to go ahead and give all of you, our newsletter recipients, a special pre-release offer before it becomes available online. If you reply to this e-mail before Christmas and let us know that you would like to order the "Keep Believing" CD, there will be no additional charge for shipping and handling and if you order it soon we can get it to you before Christmas. The cost of the CD is $15 and I would simply ask that you mail a check for that amount to Jordan Ministries. The other songs on the CD are:
1. I Am Revived
2. He Will Meet My Need
3. It Is Good
4. Only In You
5. The Church Will Stand
6. Only One Love
7. Keep Believing
8. Washed in the Blood of the Lamb
9. Without Jesus
10. Messiah
11. Empty Arms
Of course the new Christmas CD is also still available and the Christmas Specials will be listed throughout the month of December - purchase 5 or more CD's and receive free shipping and handling. Purchase the 2006 & 2009 Christmas releases together for $20 with free shipping and handling also. As always these CD's are available online at www.dawnsmithjordan.com or at Sim's Music store here in Columbia on St. Andrews Rd.
Additionally, the "No One Like You" personalized Christmas CDs are of course also available through my website. You can order ANY name and you will receive it before Christmas. Simply click on the red ribbon on the homepage of my website for more information. It is a great Christmas gift idea for children, grandchildren or those other special little ones in your life. A friend recently ordered a personalized CD as well as a personalized singing stuffed animals for each one of her grandchildren. She received all the items within just a few days and when she showed them to a friend, the friend immediately asked how she could place an order as well.
If you are looking for a ministry to give to as our year-end approaches, your gift to Jordan Ministries is of course tax-deductible. Jordan Ministries is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All gifts are greatly appreciated and help us to continue to meet the needs of this ministry as I share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in churches and other venues across the US.
I want to close our newsletter with a devotional thought from Jennifer:
Luke, Chapter 1 has a beautiful song of praise that Mary sings to our God followed by Zechariah's prophecy. If you haven't already read this passage I encourage you to take some time to read them both during this Advent Season. In verses 76-79 we read Zechariah's words:
"And you, child (speaking of John the Baptist), will be called the prophet of the Most High; For you will go on before the Lord to prepare His ways; to give to His people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the Sunrise from on High will visit us, to shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."
At Dawn's concerts, she has spoken with so many people in recent days who are hurting, struggling, broken and feeling like they are sitting in darkness in different areas of their lives. John came to point to Christ as the sacrifice lamb, the salvation God offers each of us. But the reason John could come is because God is a tender and merciful God. He sees us struggling in the darkness and He delights to shine His Light, Jesus Himself, into our hearts. He IS our Sunrise. Have you been up at dawn, maybe at the ocean, caught those first rays of sunlight and then watched the sun burst over the horizon with its glorious display of color? That is what our God is like! December can often seem like a dark month during these cold winter days. Our prayer here at Jordan Ministries is that you will experience the tender mercies of God, the Sunrise from on High, this Christmas Season, that His Light will so flood all of our hearts that we cannot help but live in joy and walk in the path of peace.
God's Richest Blessings to You this Christmas Season,
Dawn & Jennifer
