I hope you had a great summer just as we have had. August was such an exciting month for us as we closed the summer out full-steam-ahead! The children, a few of their friends, and I, enjoyed a mini-vacation to
I wish I could tell you about each of these places in detail, how I made new friends, saw the Lord at work in the hearts and lives of those I am privileged to sing/speak for, and what a huge privilege it is for me to get to sing for the glory of our God and His people, and have been able to for over 20 years.
I was able to take Hannah and Ross with me on my trip to
I was also privileged to be featured in “Reach Out Columbia” magazine’s August issue, as many of you so kindly commented on. This month will be a slower one in terms of travel, and I will get to enjoy watching Hannah play soccer several Saturday mornings as well as seeing her and Ross lead in worship at our home church during the Student Ministries' Sunday school hour.
I will be singing/speaking at
This Thursday, guitarist Jerry Sims and I will be heading back into the studio to record our much-requested arrangement of "His Eye is on the Sparrow" as a part of a new CD we hope to finish this year.
I continue to be so grateful for, and really am enjoying, this new additional work with Kid Music. I am now up to 290 names being completed...but keep in mind, that is out of a list of 3,000!!!!! My friend Lisa Shaw in Galax, VA, asked me, "Are you STILL doing that?" Oh, I will be doing this for quite some time, for the next few years, and am so thankful for the work during these challenging economic days we face. Keep in mind that even if your special little one’s name is not on the most-requested names list, ANY name can be recorded, because custom names can be ordered and sung upon request. You can check out the lullaby products available, as well as brand new singing stuffed animals they are offering, by going to www.DawnSmithJordan.kidmusic.com. The president of Kid Music surprised me with a gift in the form of a bear singing the song I wrote for Hannah years ago, “A Love That Leads to You”, with me singing Hannah’s name…great idea for little ones. Now I am going to have to get Ross one because even at 13 he thought it was a very cool thing. For information on my non-personalized version of the lullaby project, as well as the personalized version, and other products available here, please go to www.dawnsmithjordan.com.
As the weather is turning cooler, the kids are back in school (I am finding it hard to believe I have an 8th grader and a junior in high school!) and another season is about to change, "Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in the proper time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good." (Galatians 6:9-10) As each of us is about the business of doing what God has entrusted us in the way of our individual responsibilities and work, with Labor Day weekend ahead, I encourage you to do your work to your very best ability, to the glory of God and for good. However, as you take a rest from your labor, join me in thanking Him for His faithful provision. I count it such a blessing to have plenty of “work” to do, as the news tells us so many are struggling so.
Thank you for taking the time to hear from us. As always, it is always a delight to hear from you and to know what is happening in your life. I am grateful for the blessing of you in my life.
Blessed September to you and yours,
