For many of you, your summer vacation has already begun. For us, this Friday will officially start the summer break, and I must admit that Hannah, Ross and I are very much looking forward to a breather from the normal school year schedule. There are so many days that I feel like Loretta Lynn did, when, just before she collapsed on stage due to exhaustion, she cried out, "Doo, I don't feel like I'm a-runnin' my life, but my life's a-runnin' me!" Sometimes the demands of our schedules leave many of us feeling that way, and that is why I am so thankful that life comes in seasons, as my friend reminded me just this week.
"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven...As I have seen the task which God has given the sons of men with which to occupy themselves. He has made everything appropriate in its time." (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 10-11a)
For me, summer is always a welcomed time for several reasons. I have just completed a very busy travel/ministry season, my children have just completed yet another school year, all of our schedules slow down for a little while and we are able to just spend some time "being," being together, being still, visiting with family and friends, and taking a much-needed breather. I hope you are able to do the same sometime during these lazy days of summer.
This past weekend I had the privilege of recording the brand new, soon-to-be-released Children's Christian Lullaby CD at the Kid Music studio. I can hardly wait for you to hear it. The team at Kid Music wrote, orchestrated, and produced some of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Each song is speaking precious truths into the hearts and lives of the little ones that will be listening each night before they drift off to sleep.
The song I wrote for my own baby daughter, "A Love That Leads to You" is included in the album. We re-wrote the song and the instrumentation so it is soothing like the rest of the lullabies in the album. I am so thankful that my simple mother's prayer ended up being chosen, as it holds a very special place in my heart. I am honored to share it with all of the mothers around the world, as they rock their little ones to sleep just as I did years ago.
We are anticipating the non-personalized version of the album will be available for purchase in early July through
Once I start recording the personalized versions I'll be at it for quite a while. We are going to record over 3000 of the most popular names. So nearly every child's name will be available. Kid Music even plans to offer less common, or custom names, if your child's name isn't among the 3000 common names.
If you have a special child in your life that you would like to order this CD for, you may place your order through Kid Music and I will be delighted to sing their name into each of the 9 songs just for you! This past Sunday, May 31st, marked the 24th anniversary of my younger sister's kidnapping and murder, but I have now come to think of it only as her homegoing. I couldn't help but reflect on how far the Lord has brought me since that time, and be so grateful. I had the privilege to sing at
Jennifer continues to work hard at finishing up the scheduling of this year, and is booking well into 2010. I will be back on the road in July with a very busy summer ministry schedule, and I am so thankful for this precious young wife, mother, fellow servant and friend as we work together. She is a joy to all who have the privilege to work with her, as well. Please take a moment to visit our newly-updated web site and see a picture of her beautiful family that was recently added.
Drop us a note if you get a chance. It is always so good to hear from you and to get updated on the goings-on in your lives and families.
For the month of June, we will be sticking close to home for the most part. Ross will be going to participate in our church's middle school camp in
Well, thanks for allowing me a few minutes to visit with you. Take time to catch your breath and enjoy your family and friends, as these days are precious.
Have a blessed June,
